What is a BID?
A Business Improvement District “BID” is a precisely defined geographical area within which the businesses have voted to invest collectively in local improvements to enhance their trading environment.

A BID is initiated, financed and led by the commercial sector, providing additional or improved services as identified and requested by local businesses, to the baseline services provided by the local authority in that area.
 

How is the BID funded?
All businesses within the BID area pay a set levy. This money is used to pay for the services and improvements that the BID provides.

What is SCRIP?
One of the major developments for the Street Team and inSwindon is the Swindon Crime Reduction Initiative Partnership (SCRIP). Since 2007 the Street Team have assisted in the development of SCRIP and reduction of crime within Swindon Town Centre.

The SCRIP scheme helps share intelligence across the whole of the Borough, again working with appropriate agencies such as local police. For more information about this scheme please go to: www.swindoncrimepartnership.co.uk


What is the role of the Street Team?
The inSwindon Street Team are ambassadors within the town centre. They give directions and advice to members of the public on the location of specific shops or visitor attractions, but their presence also has a positive visual impact in the town centre in that it reduces antisocial behaviour. The Street Team was formed in July 2007 and since that time they have been proactive in reducing antisocial behaviour, such as street drinking and aggressive begging.

There are different locations available to book for promotional events in the Town Centre and these are;
