Christmas Lights Switch - On is a Huge Success
Swindon Town Centre’s Christmas Lights went off with a bang! Lorraine Chase, the wicked fairy from the Wyvern’s Pantomime joined Pudsey Bear and the Mascots for an evening of singing, dancing, wonderful lights and fireworks display.

Christmas Activities
In the build up to this year’s Christmas holiday, Santa’s setting up shop in The Brunel. Between 23rd November and 23rd December, kids of all ages can ask the man himself to fulfil their Christmas wishes. Entry to the Grotto (on the upper floor of the Arcade) costs £2.50, which includes a present for every child.

Swindon Switches On for 2009
The town centre is gearing up for one of Swindon’s biggest annual events – the Christmas Lights Switch-On, taking place at Wharf Green on Thursday 19th November.
Already preparations are underway for a full-scale extravaganza, as the town centre management company, inSwindon, gears up for 2009’s festive celebrations, which are being run in association with the BBC Children In Need Appeal.

Free Bus Travel
inSwindon have partnered with Thamesdown Transport and Stagecoach Swindon to offer shoppers in Swindon Town Centre free bus services every Thursday from Thursday 26th November until Thursday 17th December between 6.00pm and 9.30pm.
Please note offer only available for passengers boarding in the Swindon Travelpass Plus area after 6.00pm and before 9.30pm on 26th November, 3rd December, 10th December and 17th December 2009. Any persons using bus services outside of these times will be charged the normal rate. Concessionary free passholders and Travelpass holders should present their passes as normal. |

Students’ green film premiered to be at big screen
Hundreds of shoppers and office workers stopped to take a look at a film made by a group of young students focusing on the “greening” of Swindon’s town centre this week when the five-minute documentary, called Outside In, had its premier on Swindon’s open air Big Screen in Wharf Green.

Last night of the proms is a big hit
Around 200 people experienced one of the world’s most popular musical events in the heart of Swindon when the Last Night of the Proms was beamed live from the Royal Albert Hall onto the Big Screen.
Revellers donned Union Jack bowler hats, waved flags and sang lustily along to some of the nation’s best loved and most stirring anthems including Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and Rule Britannia.

The Tented Market
After nearly two years of closure the Swindon Market is due to re-open on Friday 2nd October. Many traders have already taken up the stalls and are busily preparing for the grand re-opening that will feature Only Fools and Horses look-a-like Delboy.
