The Board

Paul Booth – Chairman
Paul Booth is the Owner Operator of 7 McDonald's restaurants including the Town Centre branch in Canal Walk. Paul has a total of 25 years' retail experience with McDonald's, 18 as a company employee and 7 years as a franchisee here in Swindon. Paul also has both national and international experience as during his career with McDonald's; he was Country Manager in Romania, the Republic of Ireland and Operations Director in Hungary.

After leaving Ireland in 2001 Paul became the local franchisee in Swindon.  Paul Booth will shortly celebrate his second anniversary as Chairman of inSwindon.  Paul says, "Our first priority at inSwindon is to have a vibrant and successful town centre to the benefit of retail, business and customers alike.  I am very proud of our achievements to date which are testament to the hard work of all employees at inSwindon and the commitment of our board members".

Paul Jenkins
Paul Jenkins is the Managing Director for Thamesdown Transport, Swindon’s main bus company. Thamesdown’s Travel Shop on Fleming Way is located within the BID area and so the company is a natural part of the town centre community. However, Paul’s interests with inSwindon also reside with the efficiency of getting people to and from the town centre, which lies at the heart of Thamesdown’s network of local bus services. He believes public transport plays an essential role in bringing people into the town centre for work, shopping and leisure and that it will gain increasing importance as an environmentally friendly mode of travel as Swindon grows.

Nick Jones
Nick is an independent retailer and represents independent retailers to the board. With his salon based on the outskirts of the BID, Nick has clear and precise views about what can be done to help independent retailers.

Nigel Morecroft
Nigel is the owner of Great Western Cameras on Market Street. Nigel has joined the board with the intention of helping inSwindon cater for independent retailers within Swindon. As well as running Great Western Cameras, Nigel is a sitting member on the National Valuation Tribunal for business rates in England. Nigel is also head of the Wharf Green Traders Association so is able to feedback to this group ideas of inSwindon’s intentions and how to get these retailers involved.

Brian Morris
Brian Morris is the Centre Manager for The Parade Management and represents all the retailers for The Parade. The Parade is one of the two shopping centres in Swindon Town Centre, and so Brian’s key interest with inSwindon is how to improve the footfall within the town centre to help increase revenue for his retailers.

Revd Angela Overton-Benge
Revd Angela Overton-Benge is the Chaplain for Economic Life in Swindon. She has a pastoral interest in many businesses throughout Swindon and heads up a growing chaplaincy team who visit the retail sectors of our town. Her membership of the inSwindon board fits well with her particular interest in the planned redevelopment of Swindon as a destination shopping centre for the wider area. Along with her passionate support of inSwindon, she aims to support Swindon as a good place to visit, shop and in which to conduct business.

Gemma Rowlands
Gemma is the secretary for the Swindon Pub Watch scheme and is a key representative of this scheme to inSwindon and is able to assist inSwindon with developing ideas to improve the evening economy.


Advisors to the Board
inSwindon has a number of advisors to the Board who represent various organisations.

Inspector Madge Lynch
Inspector Madge Lynch represent Wiltshire Police and advise the inSwindon Board on Neighbourhood Policing Strategies for the Town Centre Division.

Sue Pycroft
Sue is a director with VOX PR, inSwindon’s PR agency, which advises on communications and media relations and implements the communications strategy.
