The town centre offers a fabulous mixture of shops. In The Brunel you will find big brand names such as Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, Virgin Megastore as well as the independant stores specialising in items such as household goods, health foods and mobile phones.
The Parade, with its distinctive and decorative canopies, houses even more shops including Debenhams and BHS; even more shopping is just around the corner in Regent Street, Bridge Street and Canal Walk. Take a relaxing break from shopping in one of the many café bars, pubs or restaurants that serve world foods.
Shop mobility is available for anyone with limited mobility and provides a selection of manual and powered wheelchairs and scooters for use in the Town Centre.
The town is also famous for the Great Western Railway works, which has been brought alive at the award-winning museum STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway.
Fine food, cool stylish cafe bars are available or why not try the world foods in the various restaurants. The Regent Circus area of the town centre has award winning Indian Restaurants, whilst Old Town offers a great choice of Tex Mex, Italian and Chinese cuisine.
The area is full of bars and clubs that have received rave reviews. It is bursting with great places to visit, including the retro Lava Lounge, the very hip Edwards and O'Neils, and the ever-popular Yates Wine Bar. For a more relaxed evening but still with the elements of a great night out, why not try Mackenzie's or The Kings Hotel but if you wishing for a night out that gives you good food, good wine and a chance to dance, then why not visit The Apartment.
